All Basking Ridge Employees To Be Tested For Coronavirus

This test will take a nasal sample to determine if the employee currently has an infection with the virus that causes COVID-19.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — All Bernards Township employees will be tested for the coronavirus on Thursday.

The Bernards Township Health Department in conjunction with The Smith Institute of NJ will conduct the COVID-19 testing clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Bernards Township Community Center at 289 S. Maple Ave. in Basking Ridge.

This test will take a nasal sample to determine if the employee currently has an infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. Lab results will given to the employee directly who will be encouraged to follow-up with their primary physician.

Currently, there is no vaccination for COVID-19.

The Bernards Township Health Department is encouraging all residents to take precautions and practice social distancing to protect themselves and others from respiratory illness:

  • Avoid crowds and large gatherings. If you have to be around people, maintain at least a 6-foot distance from them.
  • Stay home if you are sick. Limit close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Wear a face covering when in public.
