BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Ridge High School's girls lacrosse team picked up a 15-9 win over Hillsborough on Saturday at home, earning its third consecutive victory and improving to 4-2 on the season.
Lola Reynolds led the Ridge offense with six points on two goals and four assists. Emily Green scored four goals and added an assist. Cameron Hansen and Lexi Hansen each scored three goals, and Lexi Hansen also had 12 draw controls.
Camryn Ireland, Charlotte Daniel and Lauren Swan each scored once for Ridge.
Hillsborough junior goalie Jessica McKelvey, a Boston University commit, finished with 14 saves.
Ridge head coach Olivia Harpel said the defense helped establish the tone against Hillsborough.
"Especially with our spring break being this week, I am really proud of how the team stepped up and handled some personnel changes," said Harpel, known to her players as Coach O. "Our defense played tough as a unit and worked together to capitalize on gutsy plays from athletes like Libby Denechaud and Bryce Parker."
Preparation was a major focus going into the matchup, according to Harpel.
"We knew Hillsborough would be a strong matchup and have a lot of respect for their coaching staff as well," Harpel said. "Jessica McKelvey is so fun to watch, and very hard to score against. Their midfielders are relentless. We tried to build upon what we learned from our previous games to pull it off."
Harpel described the current conference slate as highly competitive.
"Every game in this conference is a game," she said. "North Jersey girls lacrosse features a ton of incredible players across well-balanced and well-coached teams. We are proud to be a part of it and excited for the challenges ahead."
She also thanked the broader Ridge athletics community for its support this season.
"The Ridge High School Athletics community has been nothing short of tremendous this season," she said. "We are so grateful to the parents and families of these players for their never-ending support, and to our administration, boys lacrosse coaches, and ATs for their daily commitment to our student-athletes. It all means the world."
Ridge is scheduled to return to action Tuesday, April 21, when it travels to Watchung to face Mount Saint Mary Academy at 4 p.m.
