BASKING RIDGE, NJ — One of the only two supermarkets in Basking Ridge will be closing.
"Stop & Shop has made the difficult decision to close our store located at 553 South Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge," Daniel Wolk, a spokesman with Stop & Shop, told Patch.
Wolk said the decision was made "after a routine evaluation of our store operations."
Stop & Shop intends to operate the store through the early fall of 2026.
"All associates will be given the opportunity to transfer to other Stop & Shop locations," said Wolk.
Stop & Shop has also announced it will be closing its store at 219 Elm Street in Westfield. Read More: Westfield Supermarket To Permanently Close
"Each decision was made independently and is not part of a broader plan to close multiple locations. We do not have plans to close additional stores in this market at this time," said Wolk.
Once Stop & Shop closes in Basking Ridge, it will leave Green's Natural Foods as the remaining grocery store in town. ShopRite of Bernardsville is also nearby.
