BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township has appointed seven Special Law Enforcement Officer III officers for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Township Committee approved the resolution tied to school security staffing at its Aug. 11 meeting.
The appointed officers include Kurt Bernhard, David Kolesar, Dave Malina, Randy Pelley, Brian Stanton, Alexander Sodbinow and Todd Widitz.
The appointments are on a regular, part-time basis, effective Aug. 1, at an hourly rate of $43.71.
According to the resolution, Bernards wants Special Law Enforcement Officer III officers "specifically trained for the safety and security of the students, faculty, staff and visitors of the Bernards Township Schools located in Bernards Township."
The Board of Education and Saint James School will reimburse the township for the officers' expenses on a monthly basis.
