BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Ridge High School boys lacrosse program will hold its annual Terrence Scott Alumni Lacrosse Game on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at Mountain Park in Basking Ridge.
Ridge lacrosse alumni are invited to play, and community members are welcome to attend and support the program.
The event continues a longstanding tradition honoring Terrence Scott, a 2010 Ridge graduate and former player.
A suggested donation of $32 will support the boys lacrosse program and the traditions tied to Scott's memory.
The amount reflects the jersey number Scott wore, which a Ridge senior continues to wear each season.
The annual game brings together former Ridge players from different graduating classes to honor Scott, whose legacy remains part of the program.
The Ridge lacrosse program honors Scott in two ways. The alumni game bears his name, and each season a deserving senior is chosen to wear Scott's No. 32 jersey for the duration of his high school career.
Scott was a three-sport athlete at Ridge, competing on the varsity lacrosse, soccer and ski racing teams.
The announcement states that coaches and teammates remember him as a selfless, team-first player who put others ahead of himself.
After graduating from Ridge, Scott earned a mechanical engineering degree from Rutgers University in 2014 and worked as a process engineer for BAE Systems in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Scott died in a skiing accident in Killington, Vermont, on March 21, 2015, at age 23, according to the announcement.
His memory remains closely tied to the Ridge boys lacrosse program, which says the alumni game reflects a tradition that has continued over the years.
Ridge Lacrosse was established in 1998 and fields freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams as the Red Devils.
The program competes in the Skyland Conference. Under head coach Kenneth Marsh, the program has won multiple county and state championships, including the 2013 Group 4 state title and Tournament of Champions.
Alumni who want to play can register through the Terrence Scott Alumni Lacrosse Game listing.
