BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township School District was listed among the best school districts in the state and was ranked among the top 15 school districts in New Jersey, according to Niche's 2027 Best School Districts in America.
The rankings released recently placed the Bernards Township School District 11th best in New Jersey and 208th out of 10,449 in America.
According to the 2027 rankings, Bernards is the best district in Somerset County, the district ranks as the 14th best school district for athletes in NJ, the 49th best district with the best teachers in NJ, and the 59th best district for places to teach in NJ.
Bernards Township has 4,673 students with a student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. According to state test scores, 80 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 82 percent in reading.

Niche's rankings combine federal and state data, school statistics, and over 3 million reviews from students, parents, and teachers to evaluate schools beyond test scores.
This year, Niche updated its methodology and created separate public and private rankings for categories including arts, diversity, college prep and teachers. It also introduced school-type-specific methodologies for boarding schools and private online high schools.
"Families deserve a complete view of their options, whether they're evaluating schools in their area or exploring what's available elsewhere," Niche founder and CEO Luke Skurman said in a news release.
