BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Ridge Youth Sports Inc. Jets opened the 2026 season with a dominant win and carried that momentum through a season defined by growth, teamwork, and steady improvement at Mountain Park.
The team included Arthur Chabot, Bear Krawitz, Christian Ferrara, Hunter Edelson, Max Kaufman, Owen Cahill, Sebastian Kneis, Wylder Pereira and Zurich Reyes.
Coaches Ryan Chabot, Pete Edelson and Chris Ferrara guided the group through a season in which the players learned new plays and adjusted to new rules.
According to Coach Pete Edelson, the Jets developed both individually and as a group as the season moved along.
Edelson described the team as complete, with players understanding their roles and how to support teammates in each position.
He also said the offense featured strong blocking, multiple touchdown pass plays, runs up the middle, speed to the outside and option runs that challenged opponents.
Defense was also a major part of the team's season.
Players grabbed multiple flags and pursued every offensive drive with tenacious defense throughout the season. The players also continued to sharpen their skills as they found their place in what the account described as a highly team-focused sport.
Sportsmanship stood out as another theme.
According to Edelson, players handed opponents their flags after a grab, helped players from both teams off the ground and congratulated friends and opponents alike.
Edelson said the boys wanted a longer season and more games as they recognized how much they had improved from game to game.
The team spirit was hard to miss at Mountain Park. Edelson said the players could be heard across the field yelling, "J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets," with some parents and siblings joining in the cheer.
The season drew support from families and volunteers on the sideline.
Parents, grandparents, siblings and friends, especially the volunteer coaching staff, took pride in the team's effort.
