Another Meaningful Season

On June 9th, the Songbird swept the streets of Finley Avenue once more.

On June 9th, a hot summer afternoon, the Songbird picked up waste on Finley Avenue as part of the Adopt-A-Road program. The school year is coming to a close, as students are looking forward to the radiant rays of summer. Many Songbird members are busy with wrapping up a year of studious academic work. The Songbird understands that these students are currently occupied and preparing for a fruitful summer.

As a result, the Chen family of four decided to take on the responsibility of sweeping Finley Avenue. For the last three years, the Songbird has been very honored to be able to clean the roads for the Somerset County. The Chen family walked about two miles from the center of the town to Ridge High School and back, and the entire service took about two and a half hours. On the way to Ridge, the Chen family picked up a variety of garbage, including plastic bottles, food wrappers, and cigarette butts.

On behalf of Songbird, the Chen family is extremely grateful to leave Basking Ridge as clean as possible for summer 2018. The town’s environment is more beautiful than ever, with colorful flowers adorning the sides of the stone ledges and fresh green grass outside every timely institution. The Songbird, in order to preserve this atmosphere for a summer filled to the brim with activities, strives to maintain Finley Avenue for its citizens. Regardless of the sun beating down on the heads of the volunteers, the Songbird continued to clean the streets of Finley Avenue, linking the hearts of those in the community together. In reality, the Chen Family had an unforgettable experience on Saturday. In between the waste collection, the Chens chattered with passerbys, runners, and residents along the side of the road. The time that the Chen Family spent was two hours of quality and gratitude.

Concerning the next service, The Songbird will sweep the streets of Finley Avenue again on September 4th. That way, the residents of Basking Ridge can start off the school season with a cleaner and more environmentally-friendly town. As summer begins anew, the Songbird hopes that Basking Ridge will look towards another meaningful season of delight.
