Arrest Made In Shooting of Somerset County Teen

Parlin man lodged on $100,000 bail, prosecutor announces.

A man has been arrested in the shooting of a Bridgewater teen that occurred last week, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano announced.

After an investigation, Shane Shepherd, 24, of Parlin, New Jersey, was arrested on June 11 after police say he shot a 19-year-old in the leg.

On June 10 at 5:19 p.m., police received a call for a reported shooting in the area of Sunny Slope Road in Bridgewater, Soriano said. Officers who arrived on scene were approached by a 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg, Soriano said.

The victim gave a description of the suspect’s vehicle and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

An investigation revealed Shepherd as the alleged assailant, and authorities arrested him the following day in North Brunswick.

Shepherd was lodged on $100,000 bail.
