Recently Lacrosse has become a huge part of Basking Ridge's lifestyle. Congratulations to last years high school boys team on winning the TOC, by the way. It seems this years squad is building on that success already. However with so much talent in town and in the state how do you set yourself apart? The answer, is in the weight room. Im not saying if you lift weighs you will be a super star, but if you train properly, it will take a good player and make him/her great. A fast runner and make them quicker. A hard shot and make it more powerful. (And most importantly) An unnoticed player and make them the player everyone is talking about. High School and College coaches take notice of the kids that work the hardest and this is the easiest way to show your hard work.
Parents:
Make sure (at least in the beginning) the training they perform is supervised and custom made for them. A senior should not be doing the same workout as a freshman that has not hit their growth spurt yet. Every athlete develops at a different rate and muscles react differently at different stages of development. Each athlete needs the individual attention to see the best results.
Here is a basic article from livestrong.com outlining the muscle groups used to play lacrosse. http://www.livestrong.com/article/533413-muscles-to-work-for-lacrosse/
Best of luck out there!
