Basking Ridge Cancels Memorial Day Parade And Ceremony
Bernards Township will host a virtual solitary moment of remembrance in place of the parade and ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Basking Ridge has canceled its Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony due to the coronavirus outbreak and Public Health Emergency, the township announced Monday. A virtual celebration will be held instead.
"While Bernards Township is unable to celebrate in our traditional way, a solitary moment of
remembrance will take place to honor those men and woman who gave their lives in service
to our Nation," according to the township's news release.
Residents will be able to view the solitary moment of remembrance on the Bernards Township website at bernards.org on May 25.

The Bernards Township Committee is also encouraging residents to make a monetary donation to the Lyons VA Medical Center due to being hit the hardest by the virus.

Donations can be made online at communityhope-nj.org and clicking on the donate now button. Checks can be made payable to Community Hope and mailed to: Community Hope, Attn: Peggy Banko, Development Office, 959 Route 46 East, Suite 402, Parsippany, NJ 07054. (In the memo line, indicate to direct the money to the Hope for Veterans Program).
