Basking Ridge Educators Lead the Way at State Conference

Basking Ridge teachers attend Foreign Language state conference.

On April 13 and April 14, teachers from Bernards Township schools joined hundreds of educators from around New Jersey and the Northeast to share, explore, and refine cutting edge instructional techniques. Dr. Daria Pizzuto of William Annin Middle School and Mrs. Jennifer Kang, Mr. Jason Caputo, and Mrs. Fiorella Bologno of Ridge High School presented workshop sessions at the Foreign Language Educators of New Jersey annual conference; Mrs. Diane Reilly of WAMS attended as part of the state mentorship program.

The conference keynote highlighted the impact of leadership projects around the world. Workshop sessions and round-table discussions illuminated many ways to implement strategies that build leadership skills into the classroom and enhance students’ comprehension abilities in a foreign language. From world tours to service projects to escape rooms, participants learned many techniques for turning their students into leaders in a global community. All four presenters were thankful for the opportunity to turn-key numerous resources and strategies that they developed in their classrooms to their fellow world language cohorts.

The ripple effect from the conference became evident as all presenters immediately implemented the strategies in their own classrooms and they will continue their professional collaboration to enhance student learning.
