Basking Ridge Garden Club To Celebrate 100th Anniversary

The Bernards Township Committee recently honored the club for continuing to beautify the area.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — In celebration of the Basking Ridge Garden Club's 100th Anniversary, the Township Committee passed a resolution honoring the members.

"Thank you for being here and carrying on this rich tradition of the Basking Ridge Garden Club," said Mayor Andrew McNally.

Over the years, the Club has encouraged the spirit of gardening, promoted the preservation of trees, birds and wildflowers, and contributed to the beautification of the community.

Some of the activities completed by the club include:

  • The Basking Ridge Garden Club maintains seasonal plantings throughout Bernards Township
  • The Basking Ridge Garden Club provides Christmas wreaths for community buildings
  • The Basking Ridge Garden Club maintains and plants hundreds of spring bulbs and plantings in the Wandering Garden at the Visiting Nurses Association of Somerset Hills and the Blue Star Memorial, and provides garden tours and parties for the seniors at Ridge Oak
  • The Basking Ridge Garden Club has dedicated trees in memory of the 9/11 victims and deceased members

"The Basking Ridge Garden Club contributes to the quality of life we enjoy in Bernards Township," according to the resolution.

Garden Club President Rose Salaki spoke during the presentation at the March 7 Committee meeting.

"We've enjoyed taking care of our community," said Salaki. "We hope to continue what we are doing for years to come."
