Basking Ridge Local Opens Pet Business

Pet supply store offers self-service dog washing, will have grand opening party to end month.

CHESTER, N.J. – Chester has gone to the dogs. And cats. And various other pets.

Wade Deffenbaugh, Basking Ridge resident has opened pet store chain Pet Supplies Plus in Chester at the Chester Springs Shopping Mall and will have a grand opening event on the final weekend of January, on the 30th and 31st.

The store offers a variety of pet toys, supplies, fish, critters, and food. The story location offers 8,800 square-feet and self-service dog wash and a “cage-free” environment to lodge and feature cats for adoption.

The grand opening “Pawty” will offer pizza, dog-friendly cake, free dog washes and nail trims, giveaways and fun for kids and pets. Everyone will receive a free scratch card with purchase valued up to $50 on Saturday, and the first 100 customers on Sunday will receive a free bag of dog or cat food.

“I grew up with pets and have been an animal lover all my life,” said Deffenbaugh in a statement. “Pet parents want the best for their animal companions,a quality shopping experience, and good value when shopping for food, toys and necessities. We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Chester community and getting to know all the neighborhood pets and their people by name.”

Pet Supplies Plus went into business in 1988 in Redford, Michigan, and now has more than 330 locations in 26 states.
