Basking Ridge Locals Defy Gravity: Put Twist On An Age-Old Toy
The brothers from Basking Ridge have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their "Infinity Levitating Spinning Top."
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Two brothers from Basking Ridge have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their new toy the “Infinity Levitating Spinning Top.”
Adam Stager who is an engineering student at the University of Delaware and graduate of Ridge High School founded the company, Infinity Top, with a lab mate at his college.
Using a combination of permanent and electromagnets they have devised a way of keeping the spinning top afloat without restricting its spinning motion, Stager said.

Since creating the interactive levitating product, Adam enlisted his brother Zac Stager to help with marketing and PR during their Kickstarter launch.
“It’s not the first levitating product, but out of the wide range of objects that have been seen floating over the past year finally there is one you can actually play with,” Stager said.

The idea came about a year and a half ago when Stager began playing with levitation platforms and incorporating it into the age-old toy, the top. The combination of the two has added a new dimension.
Removing the desktop friction means spin times can last much longer. Stager says beginners can expect to watch their top spin for 30 minutes and beyond, promoting focus and creativity.
The base of the product is offered in brushed or anodized black aluminum and requires no batteries while the top is offered in several materials including aluminum, stainless steel and brass.
“Interestingly the difference in material gives each spinning top a unique feel and results in them floating at different heights,” Stager said.
Stager recently brought home the product for his six-year-old niece to play with and they ended up playing with it all Christmas weekend.
The Kickstarter campaign launched last week and it took less than 48 hours to meet otheir ur funding goal. The campaign will continue to run through Jan. 18 where investors can lock in the product at a reduced price before it is sold.
