Retired Cop Arrested For Making Child Porn: Prosecutor

Basking Ridge, NJ -- A Basking Ridge man, who is also a retired Millburn Police Officer, was arrested for engaging in sexually explicit chat and email conversations with a boy, Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Bernards Township Chief of Police Brian Bobowicz announced Friday.

Gregory Tannenbaum, age 52, of Privet Way, in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township was charged with Manufacturing Child Pornography, 1st Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 3rd Degree and Possession of Child Pornography, 3rd Degree.

He retired from Millburn Township in 2000 after serving 14 years and collects a pension of $29,020 annually, according to nj-pensions.com.

An investigation by National Center for Missing and Exploited Children the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Bernards Township Police Department found Tannenbaum was chatting with a 15-year-old boy in a sexual manner.

On Thursday, June 2, detectives seized Tannenbaum's desktop computer, tablet, cellphone, two external hard drives, and a digital camera.

He is lodged in the Somerset County Jail with bail set at $150,000 cash only.
