Basking Ridge Middle School Destination Imagination Team recipient of 2017 Torchbearer award

Basking Ridge's "Shinning with Love" Destination Imagination team members (pictured with Team Manager) Ana Hodges, Aanya Patel, Olivia Gaibor, Jabeen Sheikh , Lauren Conley and Pranjel Hajare placed within the top 10 at Destination Imagination Global Finals 2017 for a third year in a row. “Shinning with Love” was the only team to receive the prestigious Torchbearer award

The Torchbearer award was given to this team based on their efforts to raise funds to make immediate and long term impacts in the lives of 10 African girls by funding a year of school for each of them. This was facilitated through a partnership with the “One Girl” organization.” Shining with Love” made a long lasting impact by giving the gift of hope, unlocking doors and creating opportunities.

Additionally, local team manager, Claudia Hodges' second team, “The Rainbow Shadows”, also attended Global Finals. Team members (pictured with Reuben Deane) Zoe Hodges, Daniel George, Rebeka Bijukovic, Diya Jain, Samuel Schwarz Deane and Varsha Bhargava participated in the Fine Arts Challenge. The team’s imaginative use of materials was recognized by adding a couple of their props to the Destination Imagination museum. Expect much more to come from this highly creative and energetic Basking Ridge Team
