A Basking Ridge local and an Oak Knoll School rising senior recently completed a year of service to help raise the $40,000.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A Basking Ridge resident and an Oak Knoll School rising senior recently completed a year of service on a foundation board for Overlook Medical Center that resulted in the awarding of a $40,000 grant to the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Emma McGee, class of 2018, was one of 15 representatives from area high schools that served on the board, meeting monthly to learn more about the operation of the hospital foundation as a fundraising mechanism.

As part of serving on the board, McGee and the other students developed a grant application, which entailed conducting department visits to evaluate the needs of each in addition to holding a series of fundraisers.
