Basking Ridge Is Working With Altice To Expand Fiber Optics To The Hills
Mayor Janice Fields said she is working with Bedminster to get Altice to lay fiber optics in the Hills section of the township.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — With more residents working from home due to the pandemic, the demand for better internet is needed. As a result, Basking Ridge is working to expand fiber optics services in the township.

Mayor Janice Fields, who also serves as a liaison to the Utilities Advisory Task Force, said they have spoken to Altice USA about plans for expansion in the Hills section of the township.
During the Nov. 22 task force meeting, Altice made a presentation and residents, primarily from the Hills section, spoke about having issues with outages and not having any fiber optic.

Since the meeting, Fields spoke with Bedminster Mayor Lawrence Jacobs about "working together to get Altice to lay fiber optics in the Hills, which they have agreed to do."
Fields said the only holdup is the housing associations. The task force is working on getting in contact with the associations, sitting down with them and asking them to cooperate with Altice.

"We heard you," said Fields to residents. "We will continue to work with Bedminster and get the fiber optics laid in the Hills by next year. That is our plan."
