Basking Ridge's Network Possibly Hacked, Investigation Launched
Bernards Township is working with third-party computer forensics specialists to determine the full nature and scope of this incident.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Possible hackers may have broken into Bernards Township's network causing a disruption that is impacting the ability to access certain township systems. Mayor Jim Baldassare said the township is working with forensics specialists to determine if that is the case.
"We immediately launched an investigation and are working with third-party computer forensics specialists to determine the full nature and scope of this incident," Baldassare said.
As a result Tuesday night's virtual Township Committee meeting and Township Sewage Authority meeting have been canceled. The Township Committee meeting is re-scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 at 8 p.m.

The network disruption has not impacted first responders, and their services remain fully operational, Baldassare said.
