Basking Ridge's Winter Market, Christmas Tree Lighting 2018

The fifth annual Winter Market and Christmas Tree Lighting event will be held in downtown Basking Ridge on Saturday, Dec. 1.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The fifth annual Winter Market and Christmas Tree Lighting event will be held in downtown Basking Ridge on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The Winter Market will begin at noon and runs until 7 p.m. Crafts people and home-based businesses will line the halls of Bishop Janes United Methodist Church. The church’s annual Christmas tree and wreath sale will also take place.

Also, Veterans Greenhouse will be selling poinsettias which will benefit veteran-owned and veteran-run businesses in the local community. Volunteers and donors will participate, as the day includes a Christmas shop where children can purchase inexpensive gifts for family members.

The Basking Ridge Fire Company will set up a Christmas tree on the green. Members of the William Annin Middle School choir, will sing carols and the the tree lighting ceremony itself is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.

The kid-friendly Christmas operetta called “Amahl and the Night Visitors” will take place up the street at St. Mark’s at 7:30 p.m. Santa is also planning to once again visit with children at the Ridge Family Dentistry building and participating restaurants will offer specials.

This event, with the help and generosity of Coldwell Banker as a sponsor, is a joint effort between the Basking Ridge Business Alliance (BRBA) and Bishop Janes United Methodist Church.

“We’re excited to build on four years of continued success,” said Bill Youngblood, President of the Basking Ridge Business Alliance. “This is what community is all about and continuing a new tradition that fosters it is wonderful to see. We loved seeing the community come out in past years and the crowd seems to always grow bigger and bigger with each passing year, regardless of the weather!”
