Bernards Committee Race Remaining Ballots To Be Counted Tuesday
As of Friday, candidates for the township committee seat democrat Joan B. Harris and republican John Surano are only 9 votes apart.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The race for a seat on the Bernards Township has been a close one, almost too close to call even since the election on Tuesday.
As of Friday, candidates for the township committee seat democrat Joan B. Harris who got 6,146 votes and republican John Surano who got 6,155 votes are only nine votes apart.
Republican Joseph Esposito got 6,204 votes and democrat Robert J. Mascia got 5,887 votes.

All four are vying for two three-year seats on the township committee.
The only ballots left to be counted are the provisional and the mail-in ones that arrived within 48 hours of the election (Wednesday or Thursday) but were postmarked on election day, Nov. 6. Somerset County Election Board Administrator Jerry Midgette told Patch the last remaining ballots will be counted on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Once the last ballots are counted the totals will be updated on the county's website.
