Bernards, Far Hills Are Partnering Up To Improve Mine Brook Road

The township committee voted on Tuesday to agree to the Shared Service Agreement as Mine Brook Road is a a shared roadway.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township will be working together with the Borough of Far Hills to improve Mine Brook Road.

The township committee voted on Tuesday to agree to the Shared Service Agreement as Mine Brook Road is a a shared roadway, with the center line being the municipal boundary between both Bernards and Far Hills.

By working together, both Bernards and Far Hills feel that "co-operation in the area of project design, construction and project management will reduce costs and increase efficiencies in operation, both of which are in the best interests of the public," according to the resolution.

The partnership entails that Far Hills will solely apply for funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation Fiscal Year 2019 Municipal Aid Program for Mine Brook Road Improvements from Old Coach Road to Whitenack Road.

As part of the application process, Bernards Township will offer Far Hills grant administration and professional engineering services that include project design and specification, bidding and construction management at no cost.

Once approved both Bernards and Far Hills will agree to split the costs of construction proportionately based on roadway area improved after applying any grants received.
