Bernards Township Candidates To Virtually Kickoff Campaign

Republican candidates James Baldassare Jr. and Kate Grochala will host a virtual event on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. due to the coronavirus.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Republican candidates James Baldassare Jr. and Kate Grochala will kickoff their campaign for the Bernards Township Municipal Committee with a virtual event on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. due to the coronavirus.

Baldassare Jr., a lifelong township resident, veteran and current Mayor is seeking re-election to his second term. Baldassare Jr. and his wife Tracy, have six children.

After enlisting in the Marine Corps, Baldassare Jr. wokred as a surety underwriter and currently serves as Director of Surety for a large brokerage. He has coached both youth football and high school baseball. Prior to serving on the township committee, Baldassare Jr. served on the township Parks and Recreation, Zoning and Planning Boards.

Grochala, a 25-year township resident and former Chief of Staff to Assemblywoman Denise Coyle, is seeking her first term. Grochala and her husband Rick raised two children in the township. An attorney by trade, Grochala serves as a community volunteer, and was selected for and participated in the Christine Todd Whitman Excellence in Public Service series.
