Bernards Township Has A New Mayor

Carol Bianchi was sworn in as mayor, Carolyn Gaziano was appointed Deputy Mayor

Basking Ridge, NJ -- Bernards Township has a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Carol Bianchi was appointed Mayor at the Jan. 4 reorganization meeting. Bianchi was Deputy Mayor in 2015 where she served on committees such as: Environmental Commission, Board of Health, Pool Commission, Sewerage Authority, Charter Day Committee, Agricultural Advisory Committee and Golf Advisory Committee.

“I want to recognize and thank my family and friends, especially my husband Rich and children, for your constant support,” Bianchi said during her mayoral address for 2016. “If time permitted, I would individually thank all of you here who I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with over the years.”

Bianchi and her husband Rich have been a resident of Bernards Township since 2001. They have four children attending Ridge High School, William Annin Middle School and Cedar Hill.

Carolyn Gaziano was appointed as Deputy Mayor. She has served on the Township Committee since 2010, and served as Mayor in 2013.

Gaziano and her husband, Joe, have been residents of Bernards Township since 1991. They have three children, Tim who graduated from Ridge in 2011 and currently attends Lafayette College, Nicole who graduated from Ridge in 2012 and now attends Wake Forest University and Will who will graduate from Ridge High School in 2017.

During Bianchi’s 2016 Mayor’s Address she touched on what will come throughout the new year such as a continued road improvement plan; renovating aging recreational facilities; and dedicating a soccer field at Pleasant Valley Park to RHS graduate and World Cup champion Tobin Heath.

The Public Works department will also roll out a Geo Client portal to allow residents to report potholes, sidewalk maintenance, and other needs via a web application.

A much needed generator will be installed at the municipal building and Lyons Train Station will be renovated.

And Bianchi will send out a Mayor’s newsletter, which residents can subscribe at www.bernards.org.
