Bernards Township Police To Host National Night Out

The event will include a DJ, food, activities, K9 Demonstration, vehicle displays and extrication demo, an outdoor movie and more.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township Police Department is hosting its National Night Out for 2023 on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

The event will be held at the Municipal Complex at 1 Collyer Lane in Bernards Township at 6:30 p.m.

  • Water balloon toss, hula hoop challenge and temporary tattoos, being run/provided by volunteers from the Somerset Hills YMCA
  • Face Painting courtesy of the Ridge High School REACH students
  • K9 Demonstration (Somerset County Sheriff’s Office)
  • Vehicle displays and Extrication Demo (LCFC and BRFCO)
  • Interactive Fire Hose Spray Demo (Lyons VA FD)
  • Vehicle/Equipment displays (Somerset County OEM, NJ Fish and Wildlife, Basking Ridge Fire Company, Liberty Corner Fire Company, Lyons VA Fire Department and Police Department, Bernards PD)
  • DJ
  • Hot dogs, snacks and drinks for sale by the Basking Ridge Fire Company
  • Ice cream and ice pops are provided by Liberty Corner Fire Company

The event will cap off the night with an outdoor movie of "Super Mario Bros. The Movie" rated PG at 8:15 p.m.

"With our newly re-established Community Policing branch of the former Services Division (Now the Traffic Safety and Community Policing Division), we have been working diligently to reconnect with the community in as many ways as possible," said Bernards Township Police Sgt. Tracy Baldassare. "National Night Out is a great opportunity for residents to come out and spend an evening with the Police in a fun atmosphere."

One of the new additions this year is the police department's first annual Cops vs. Counselors Tug of War Championship.

The counselors of the Bernards Township Recreation Camps have been competing during the camp Health and Safety Days for a chance to participate in the championship at National Night Out.

"We are looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and hopefully many new ones on August 1st," said Baldassare.
