Bernards Township School Board Candidates To Square Off Thursday
Seven candidates running for the four open Bernards Township School Board seats will participate in a question and answer session.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The seven candidates running for Bernards Township School Board will square off on Thursday during a forum.
The League of Women Voters and Ridge High School students invite the public to the in-person forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ridge Performing Arts Center.
Residents can meet the candidates at this moderated question and answer session, learn their plans for Bernards Township Schools, and get their questions answered in advance of the upcoming school board election.

The format for each forum will consist of opening and closing statements from each candidate and about 60 minutes of questions from the audience. Each candidate will have the opportunity to answer the questions and the opportunity for a rebuttal. No remarks of a personal or abusive nature will be permitted.
The Candidate Forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters.

Residents who are unable to attend may livestream the event using a link that will be posted on the district homepage on the evening of the event. Instructions for virtual audience members to submit questions via e-mail during the forum will also be provided.
There are seven candidates running for the four open Bernards Township School Board seats. There are three, three-year seats, and one, two-year unexpired term seat up for grabs.
Those running for one of the three-year seats include:
- Robin McKeon - incumbent and current Board Vice President
- Carl Bird
- Timothy Salmon - incumbent
- Herpreet "Guddia" Singh - incumbent
- Kirsten Light
Those running for the unexpired seat include:
- Ruchika Hira - incumbent
- Lawrence J. Nastro
The general election will occur on Nov. 2.
The last day to register is Tuesday, Oct. 12. The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot by mail Oct. 26 or Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. if you apply in person. For more voting information, visit lwvnj.org, visit the New Jersey Voter Information Portal, or call 1-877-NJ-VOTER.
