Bernards Township Schools Among The Best In NJ District Rankings

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township School District was among the top-ranked districts in New Jersey for the 2020-21 school year, according to Niche's 2021 K-12 rankings.

The district was ranked 11th best in New Jersey and best in Somerset County.

Each New Jersey district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.

Here is a breakdown of Bernards Township's scores:

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Bernards has 5,154 students in grades PK, K-12 and has a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1. A total of 77 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 81 percent in reading, according to state test scores reported by Niche.

"Ridge is very academically strong and emotionally challenging. Academically, the classes are challenging and there is a wide variety of choices that a student can choose from depending on what they are interested in," said a Ridge High School junior.
