Bernards Twp. School District Ranked Best In Somerset County

The district was also ranked 8th best in New Jersey and 83rd best in the nation, according to Niche's 2020 K-12 rankings.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township School District is the top-ranked school district in Somerset County for the 2019-2020 school year, according to Niche's 2020 K-12 rankings. The district was also ranked 8th best in New Jersey and 83rd best in the nation.

Each New Jersey district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.

Niche gave Bernards Township an A, A+ or an A- in all categories except for diversity.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Basking Ridge has 5,342 students in grades PK, K-12 and has a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1. A total of 78 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 80 percent in reading, according to state test scores reported by Niche.

"Bernards Township is a very diverse and welcoming place for students. They focus on the well-being of their students as if they were their own children. All the schools in this township have a strong sense of community that is open to everyone," said a Ridge High School senior.

"I was a part of the Bernards Township School District my entire life (K-12). It definitely prepared me for life after grade school and has made college a lot easier," an alum of the district said.
