Bernardsville Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting A Child For Years
Teodoro R. Velazquez, 68, of Bernardsville is charged in relation to the sexual assault of a girl from the ages of 6 to 9, police said.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — A Bernardsville man is accused of sexually assaulting a girl from the ages of 6 to 9 in the borough, said authorities.
Teodoro R.Velazquez, 68, of Anderson Hill Road, Bernardsville, was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, said Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Thomas Chirichella, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Bernardsville Chief of Police Kevin J. Valentine.
On June 21, 2021, a 14-year-old girl, who was interviewed by a detective from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit, said Teodoro Velazquez sexually assaulted her numerous times between 2013 and 2017 while she was six years old through nine years old in Bernardsville, according to authorities.

On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, Velazquez was arrested without incident and charged following an investigation by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit and detectives from the Bernardsville Police Department.
Velazquez was taken to the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
