Bonnie Brae Frisbee for Fun Open House

Wednesday, May 30th from 6:00-7:30pm

On Wednesday, May 30th from 6:00 – 7:30pm, Bonnie Brae is hosting a “Frisbee for Fun” Open House Event on the Bonnie Brae Campus. Community members are invited to come out and play a fun pick-up game of Frisbee while also seeing Bonnie Brae’s beautiful campus, learning about their mission, and how “Frisbee for Fun,” an annual fall event, positively impacts the boys and young men of Bonnie Brae.

“Frisbee for Fun” is the brainchild of several North Hunterdon High School students who joined together in 2015 to think of creative ways that they could make a difference for the boys of Bonnie Brae. After a spirited exchange of ideas, the team of students came up with the idea of a fun, ultimate frisbee tournament and thus “Frisbee for Fun” was born. The event raises funds to send Bonnie Brae boys on an annual summer camp experience to Forest Lake camp. To date, these teens have raised more than $15,000 to help Bonnie Brae boys.

The event has had a diverse and wide range of participants including students from many area schools including: North Hunterdon High School, West Morris Central High School, Long Valley Middle School, Somerville High School, Fireside Academy, and the County College of Morris. This past year, “Frisbee for Fun” even welcomed a father-son team to the playing field. One of the highlights of the day is when Bonnie Brae’s very own Knights Disc Team takes the field and participates in the fun and spirited competition.

“Frisbee for Fun” supporters hope that this year’s event will continue to grow to include representation from more local high schools, middle schools and colleges. Participating students will receive community service hours and are invited to join the “Frisbee for Fun” Planning Committee, members of the planning committee gain real world experience in event planning, marketing, and recruiting.
