Sisters Expand, Merge Boutique Home Decor And Kids Store In Downtown Basking Ridge

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — What a year it's been for Basking Ridge sisters Desiree Mazzarese and Stephanie Ossorio. 2022 has been filled with so much success since opening their two stores, Guest House and Lulu Kids, that the pair have expanded and merged the two under a new name - Shoppes at Finley.

Mazzarese first opened the boutique home decor store, Guest House, in September 2021 at 31 South Finley Ave. Then Mazzarese teamed up with Ossorio to open LuLu Kids Style at the end of March in the same location.

Their lease was ending at their current location and Mazzarese said they needed more space.

"We needed a bigger space to showcase more products. There was a lot we couldn't show before," said Mazzarese.

They saw a larger space across the street at 52 S. Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge and jumped at the chance.

Mazzarese and Ossorio merged their two stores under one roof and unveiled a new name The Shoppes at Finley.

"Also part of the new name was our plan to host lots of pop-up shops for local vendors," said Mazzarese. "All women-owned businesses. That was the main point for creating Shoppes at Finley."

A grand opening of the new location was held on Aug. 1 with Scream Truck present. Mazzarese and Ossorio plan to host one to two pop-up events each month moving forward.

The Shoppes are open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday but because both Mazzarese and Ossorio live in the town they do offer off-hour appointments and will swing by to open up the shop when requested.

"A lot of people have taken advantage of it. Since COVID we can be more flexible since we both live in town," said Mazzarese.

The Shoppes at Finley also offers local deliveries and shopping online as well.
