Brush Fire Sparked By Downed Wire In Bernardsville

This incident caused many to lose power throughout Bernardsville on Wednesday.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — A downed wire caused a brush fire and power outage in Bernardsville on Wednesday.

At around 1:39 p.m., Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1 & First Aid Squad was called to a wire on fire near 96 Mt Harmony Road.

Police and firefighters arrived to find a primary wire on the ground causing a small brush fire. By the time JCP&L arrived to shut off the power, the fire had extended up into the hillside, said the fire department.

Once JCP&L shut power off in the area, firefighters extinguished the fire.

Residents in the area lost power as a result on Wednesday.
