Burglars In Stolen Car Lead Police On Chase In Basking Ridge
The suspects reportedly burglarized an unlocked vehicle on Autumn Drive before fleeing in "an extremely dangerous and reckless manner."
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Car burglars led police on a chase in a stolen vehicle through Basking Ridge on Wednesday afternoon.
At around 3:45 p.m., a burglary of an unlocked vehicle on Autumn Drive was reported, said Bernards Township Police Lt. Christopher Hurst.
An officer went to the area and found the suspects inside a stolen vehicle they were driving at the intersection of Lake Road and Mt Airy Road, said Hurst.

When the officer tried to stop the stolen vehicle, it fled and a very short pursuit ensued, said Hurst.
"This pursuit was promptly terminated as the operator of the stolen vehicle began to drive in an extremely dangerous and reckless manner," said Hurst.

Police are reminding residents to remove key fobs from their vehicles and keep them locked at all times. Residents should also remove or hide from view (such as locked in the trunk) any valuables in their vehicles.
