IN SHORT
Hillsborough’s Kelly Janokowitz led the way from start to finishing the 5K race in 19:22. Ridge senior Caelainn Carney (19:44) finished third overall.
The meet between the Red Devils and Raiders came down to the teams' fifth runner. Both Ridge and Hillsborough had four runners in, with Ridge holding a slim 17-19 lead. If the Raiders fifth and sixth runners could beat Ridge’s fifth, Hillsborough would have won 27-28. Ridge sophomore Sarah Spring (20:34) clinched the victory for the Red Devils finishing ahead of the Raiders' fifth runner.
COACHES TAKE
“I’m happy with the results. We’ve had a few meets already and this was Hillsborough’s first time out. I’m sure they’ll be there later in the season.” Head Coach Tim Mooney
