On Saturday, September 5, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Millington Baptist Church in Basking Ridge will host its first-ever Summerfest, bringing the community together for a fun-filled afternoon on the church’s back lawn.
Summerfest will feature live music, a DJ, karaoke, cornhole, pickleball, volleyball, face painting, food and drinks, ice cream, craft sales, local businesses, and more. Whether you’re looking to grab something to eat, enjoy the music, play a few games, shop from local vendors, or simply spend the afternoon with family and friends, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
This event is free and open to the public, and everyone in the community is invited to join us.

The Gilded Age is famous for its ornate mansions and grand gardens built by the Roosevelts, Vanderbilts, and Carnegies. Transport yourself to the Gilded Age with an armchair tour of the gardens at the Newport Mansions, Kykuit, Vanderbilt Estate, Vizcaya, Untermyer Gardens, Nemours and others with garden designer Jana Milbocker. Jana's latest book published in June 2026 is “Gardens of the Gilded Age". Sarah Vance, Director, The Blue Garden in Newport, RI said “it is a stunning invitation to the gardens, homes, and landscapes from an era when American power, wealth, and aesthetic refinement seemed to know no limit. Through its unforgettable score and daring storytelling, Assassins examines the lives, motives, and myths of those who sought to change American history. Whether you're a lifelong Sondheim fan or discovering the musical for the first time, this engaging presentation will offer fresh insights into a modern masterpiece. 
Presenter: Gil Harel (PhD, Brandeis University) is an award-winning musicologist and composer whose interests include styles ranging from western art music to contemporary musical theater. He is Full Professor of Music at CT State Naugatuck Valley, where he conducts the college chorale, a cappella ensemble, teaches music history and theory, and serves as musical director of theater productions.
