Car Burglary, Dog Hit By Car, Transformer Fire Reported In Bernards Twp.

Bernards Township Police released its blotter for incidents reported from Nov 4 through Nov 10.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Car burglary, a dog hit by a car, a transformer fire, and more were reported recently in the township.

Bernards Township Police Blotter for Nov. 4 through Nov. 10:

During the above timeframe, Bernards Township Police Officers responded to six motor vehicle crashes with two injuries reported. One motor vehicle summons was issued to an involved driver.

On Nov. 4 at around 1:01 a.m.: An officer on patrol on Martinsville Road saw a gray 2013 Chevrolet Malibu drive through a red traffic light. The officer then conducted a motor vehicle stop on the Malibu. During the stop, the driver, Catherine Johnson, 33, of Irvington, was found to have an active traffic warrant out of Phillipsburg. Johnson was placed under arrest for the warrant and issued two motor vehicle summonses. Johnson was later released on her own recognizance with a new court date for the warrant.

On Nov. 4 at around 6:47 p.m.: Officers responded to Sunrise Assisted Living for the report of a disorderly person. Upon arrival, officers contacted two subjects in the lobby who had become loud and disorderly with staff. After speaking with the subjects, officers were able to calm the subjects and have them leave the property without further incident.

On Nov. 6 at around 9:29 p.m.: Officers responded to Ramapo Drive for the report of a dead dog in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers observed a small black dog dead in the roadway, with injuries appearing to be from a motor vehicle strike. No vehicles remained on scene, nor has the dog’s owner been located. Anyone with information regarding the dog, the dog’s owner, or the incident can reach out to BTPD or Bernards Township Animal Control at 908-204-3066.

On Nov. 8 between 4 and 5 p.m.: A patron of Mountain Park reported their unlocked vehicle was burglarized. The victim advised that while at the park, they began receiving text alerts about purchases being made on their credit cards. When they returned to their vehicle, they saw their purse in the rear with credit cards and cash stolen. BTPD reminds all residents and visitors to lock their vehicles with valuables out of sight. This case is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.

On Nov. 9 between 10:15 and 11 a.m.: A member at the YMCA on Mt Airy Road reported a theft. The victim advised someone had entered his gym locker and stolen around $700 in cash and multiple credit cards from his wallet. The victim was unsure if he locked his locker. BTPD reminds all residents and visitors to always keep valuables locked up. This case is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.

On Nov. 10 at around 11:10 a.m.: Bernards Township Police Officers and Basking Ridge Fire Company responded to Mt Airy Road for the report of a transformer fire. Upon arrival, an active fire was observed stemming near an electricity pole. The fire later spread to the brush under the pole. Buildings in the area lost power due to the fire. JCP&L responded to the scene to secure electricity.

Please keep vehicles locked, without the keys in them and valuables out of sight. Confirm all suspicious calls/emails/texts/messages requesting monetary payments with law enforcement or banking officials before sending funds.
