Chickens Killed In Coop Fire In Peapack-Gladstone

Peapack-Gladstone Firefighters extinguished the fire on Saturday morning.

PEAPACK AND GLADSTONE, NJ — A chicken coop fire broke out on Saturday morning in Peapack and Gladstone.

On Feb. 4 at 10:26a.m., Peapack & Gladstone Police Officer Luke Tamburello went to 61C Highland Ave. for the report of a fire, said Sgt. Thomas A. Scanlon.

Tamburello found a chicken coop on fire which was about 75 yards from the home, said Scanlon.

Members of the Peapack & Gladstone Fire Department extinguished the fire.

It was reported that several chickens perished in the fire, said Scanlon.

The fire was caused by a heat lamp, according to Peapack-Gladstone First Aid and Rescue Squad Inc.

Peapack-Gladstone First Aid and Rescue Squad Inc. is always looking for volunteers. Currently, its 20 volunteers attend about 300 calls for service every year, ranging from simple falls, to heart attacks, to serious traffic collisions and everything in between.
