Community in Crisis Offers Alternative Pain Management Lecture

Community in Crisis will offer a pain management lecture on June 7th at 7PM at the Community Hub located in the old library building, 2 Morristown Rd, Bernardsville NJ. In line with its mission to support individuals and families in building and maintaining healthy lifestyles as well as to promote mental health and wellbeing, this program will educate residents on alternative pain management.

The facilitator, Dr. Terrence Welsh, MD, will review non-opioid alternatives to treating both acute and chronic pain, providing strategies for patients to help themselves and family members navigate the choices in pain management while avoiding the potential risks associated with opioid medications. Dr. Welsh is a diplomat of The American Board of Anesthesiology with added qualifications in Pain Management. He received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Welsh is skilled in treating patients with various chronic and acute pain complaints, including, but not limited to: CRPS, neck and back injuries, peripheral nerve damage, cancer pain and traumatic injuries. He uses the latest in evidence based medicine, combining interventional techniques with interdisciplinary care to improve the quality of his patient's lives.

ABOUT COMMUNITY IN CRISIS

Community in Crisis began in 2013 following the overdose deaths of two young adults in the Somerset Hills community. The organization, a coalition of community agencies, organizations, schools, churches and concerned citizens, offers bi-weekly support groups for families struggling with addiction, innovative educational opportunities in the school environment, medicine take-back days, town hall meetings, and more. Additionally, Rutgers Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and the Horizon Foundation have partnered with Community in Crisis to produce and scale out an evidence-based community toolkit for implementation by communities across NJ. Community in Crisis opened The Community Hub in downtown Bernardsville NJ in 2018.
