Cub Scout Pack 451 camps out and rides hovercrafts
The boys enjoyed the Fall Camporee and a Pack meeting focused on helmet safety

The Cub Scouts of Pack 451 put their camping skills to the test the weekend of October 9th to the 11th, when they attended the Fall Camporee at the Camp Winnebago Scout Reservation in Rockaway. The day was filled with fun activities, such as archery, games, cooking demonstrations, knot tying, nature programs and hiking. At night, they camped out. “The Cub Scouts learned basic outdoor skills, such as how to pitch a tent, make tools from rocks, and how to keep animals out of their tents,” says Manish Malhotra, camping chair for Pack 451.
On Friday, October 16th, the Pack gathered for their monthly meeting at Mount Prospect Elementary School in Basking Ridge. The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey gave a helmet safety workshop, in which the boys learned the importance of wearing a helmet for various activities. They also learned how to choose the correct helmet size for the best protection. Then the boys put on their helmets and rode hovercrafts across the gym floor—Back to the Future style. The meeting was held in honor of Jacob George, who has a brain injury and is the brother of Daniel, one of our Scouts.
