Deer Hunting Season For 2023 To Begin In Basking Ridge

The English Family Woods property will be closed to the public in order to allow hunting for the 2023/2024 season.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Deer hunting for the 2023/2024 season will soon begin in Basking Ridge.

As a result, the English Family Woods property will be closed to the public. Only hunters approved by English Farm Associates are allowed to hunt on specified days.

The township's Deer Management Advisory Committee provided a report in 2022 crediting the deer program with a 92.4 percent decrease in deer versus vehicle crashes in Basking Ridge since 2001. Read More: Deer Vs. Car Crashes Decrease 92 Percent In Basking Ridge Since 2001

The report revealed that 99 deer were killed during the 2021-22 hunting season and 259 during the 2020-21 hunting season in the township.
