Drawing/Painting Classes at Farmstead Arts Center, Basking Ridge

Classes:

Teen Drawing and Painting (ages 13-17)
4:00-6:00 pm; 3 weeks: Tuesdays, November 14, 28 and December 5, 2017
$75 members/$90 non-members, all materials included
Introduction to the fundamental principles of drawing and painting. Working with a variety of drawing and painting materials, they will learn to create convincing 2D imagery of the 3D world. No previous experience required.

Introduction to Watercolors for Adults
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
3 weeks: Wednesdays, November 15, 29 and December 6, 2017
$75 members/$90 non-members, all materials included
Students will learn basic watercolor techniques, both traditional and non-traditional. Still lives and landscapes will be explored, as elements of composition, design, and basic skills will be refined through color, shading, value, and proportions. No previous experience required.

Drawing and Painting for ages 9 – 12
4:00-5:30 pm
3 weeks: Wednesdays, November 15, 29 and December 6, 2017
$65 members, $75 non-members, all materials included
This course is an ideal way to introduce young artists to a variety of different materials, techniques, and the fundamental principles of drawing and painting. Students will strengthen established skills and gain confidence in their abilities, as they have fun developing and exploring new understandings in color, perspective, and composition through still lives, photographic references, and imagination. Demonstrations and individual attention given. No previous experience required, all levels welcome.

Colored Pencil Drawing (ages 16 and up)
7:30 – 9:30 pm
3 weeks: Thursdays, November 16, 30 and December 7, 2017
$75 members/$90 non-members, all materials included
Explore and discover the range and special qualities of watercolor colored pencils. Drawing and painting principles will be applied in the of mixing and blending of colors on paper, overlays, washes, and value judgements. Choices of still life arrangements, landscapes, and personal compositions. Appropriate for beginners and beyond, all materials included.
