Family, Dogs Rescued From Early Morning Fire In Basking Ridge

Smoke detectors alerted a resident inside the home of the fire early Wednesday morning in Basking Ridge.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A family and their dogs were rescued from an early morning blaze at a Basking Ridge home Wednesday.

The fire was reported at 5:15 a.m. at a home at 23 Wisteria Way by a resident who was alerted by smoke detectors that activated in the home, Bernards Township Police Chief Michael Shimsky said.

When police arrived they discovered heavy fire and flames coming from the back of the home.

The fire appeared to have started in a detached pool house, located at the rear of the home, and spread to the main house, Shimsky said.

All occupants of the home, to include the family dogs, were able to escape the blaze and there were no reported injuries.

The fire is now under control.

The fire is not being deemed suspicious at this time however is still under investigation by the Bernards Township Police Department and Fire Official.

Responding agencies included the fire departments from Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner, Bernardsville, Lyons VA, Peapack & Gladstone, Mendham Boro, and Far Hills. Also assisting on scene were Basking Ridge EMS, Liberty Corner EMS, Martinsville EMS, Bernards Township Animal Control, Bernards Township Office of Emergency Management and Somerset County Office of Emergency Management.
