Election Results For Bernards Township Primary 2026

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The polls have officially closed for the 2026 Primary Election for the Bernards Township Committee. This will be updated with the latest results throughout the night.

The Republican race was contested this year with three candidates — Kirsten Light, along with Paul Humbert and Vanathi Raghupathy — vying for two spots.

The Democratic race was uncontested in the primary, with incumbent Mayor Ana Duarte McCarthy running along with Joan M. Bannan for two spots.

Here are the unofficial results for the Bernards Township Committee (*denotes incumbent), according to Somerset County:

Bernards Township Committee:

• Ana Duarte McCarthy* - Democrat - 1,014
• Joan M. Bannan - Democrat - 1,007
• Paul Humbert - Republican - 449
• Vanathi Raghupathy - Republican - 275
• Kirsten Light - Republican - 335

Somerset County Board of County Commissioners:

• Paul Drake - Democrat* - 11,333
• Elizabeth Graner - Democrat* - 12,170
• Dan Gallic - Republican - 3,122
• Rakesh "Rocky" Ganta - Republican - 2,622

The New Jersey general election is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
