The End Of An Era: Liberty Corner Rescue Squad Donates $125K, Equipment As It Closes

The Liberty Corner First Aid Squad is passing on the last of its 57-year legacy to mutual aid partners after ceasing operations for good.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Passing on the last of its 57-year legacy, the Liberty Corner First Aid Squad presented checks and equipment to its mutual aid partners after halting operations for good.

On April 19 the Squad made distributions to their mutual aid partners as part of the Squad’s litigation agreement with Bernards Township.

Liberty Corner First Aid Squad divvied up the last of its remaining assets to donate $50,000 to the Basking Ridge First Aid Squad, $25,000 to Long Hill First Aid Squad, $25,000 to Martinsville Rescue Squad, and $25,000 to the Basking Ridge Fire Company.

A fully equipped ambulance with supplies will be donated to the Far Hills, Bedminster First Aid Squad. And the squad donated four Lucas CPR machines plus seven new Automated Electronic Defibrators (AED) to the Bernards Township Police Department.

The Squad has already held a free community CPR awareness class and another will be scheduled in the fall.

A letter was read from a member of the Squad thanking the Squad for its dedicated service over the years.

President Greg Taylor thanked the community for its undying support over the past 57 years.

The donations were in connection with a settlement of a lawsuit, which was filed by the township in October 2022 over how to disperse the squad's remaining assets after the squad ceased operations in September 2022. Read More: Bernards Township To File Lawsuit Against Liberty Corner Rescue Squad
