Environmental Education Center Programs

January 16 to 22, 2017

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

PARENT/CHILD PROGRAMS

Story Hour – FREE PROGRAM

Saturday, January 21 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

environmental-based story and enjoy a short walk on the trails of

the EEC.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

Nature Through A Child’s Eye – FREE PROGRAM

Daily through Sunday, February 5 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M except

holidays

The entire family will enjoy the annual environment and nature art show featuring works from children from kindergarten through grade six in Somerset County schools.

Admission is free.

Tinicum NWR Birding – NEW!

Wednesday, January 18 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Adult birders will join a Naturalist for a day of exploring America’s finest

urban refuge located within the city of Philadelphia and the

Delaware River estuary. Habitats include freshwater tidal marsh,

open water, mudflats, and woodlands supporting a diversity of

wildlife.

Fee is $50 per adult and $40 per senior.

Family Nature Walk – FREE PROGRAM

Sunday, January 22 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M.

Family and friends will enjoy a Naturalist-led interpretive walk

through the Great Swamp.

The program is free and pre-registration is not required

Sleepy Snakes – FREE PROGRAM

Sunday, January 22 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Family and friends of all ages will learn the truth about snakes and dispel

the numerous incorrect myths.

The session is free.
