
The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature in Somerset County. Xtreme Adventure: Sedge Island Overnight
Tuesday, August 8 at 8:00 A.M. to Wednesday, August 9 at
5:30 P.M.
Adventurers ages 13 to 16 will hit the road on a trip to New Jersey’s
largest estuary for kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, birding, and
crabbing.
Fee is $225 per person.

ADULT/FAMILY PROGRAMS
Whitewater Beginnings
Saturday, August 12 from 7:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Kayakers age 15 and over will have an opportunity to take their skills to
another level on a trip to Class 1-11 whitewater. Prior participation
in at least two, 4-miles or less river trips required.
Fee is $75 per person.

Family Nature Walk – FREE PROGRAM
Saturday, August 12 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Family and friends will enjoy a Naturalist-led interpretive walk
through the Great Swamp.
The program is free and pre-registration is not required.
“The Great Swamp Experience,” on the lower level at the EEC, features interactive displays, vignettes, taxidermy, and archeological artifacts highlighting the history and ecology of the Great Swamp. The exhibit is open 7 days a week from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Admission Is free.
Please note that dog walking is not permitted on the trails at the Environmental Education Center.
