
The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

Young Explorers Club

Garden Discovery Tour – Yuletide at Winterthur – NEW!
Thursday, December 12 from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Adults will join a Naturalist on a day trip to Winterthur founded by Henry
Francis du Pont, a 1,000 acres of rolling hills, streams, meadows,
forests, and a 60- acre naturalistic garden featuring plants from
around the world.
Fee is $65 per adult & $55 per senior.

Christmas Bird Count – FREE PROGRAM

Adults are invited to learn basic birding techniques while collecting data

Audubon Society, exploring the trails of Lord Stirling Park.

“The Great Swamp Experience,” on the lower level at the EEC, features interactive displays, vignettes, taxidermy, and archeological artifacts highlighting the history and ecology of the Great Swamp. The exhibit is open 7 days a week from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission Is free.
Please note that dog walking is not permitted on the trails at the Environmental Education Center.
