Environmental Education Center Programs In Basking Ridge

From August 24 to 30, 2015.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature as summer arrives in Somerset County.

The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

Serpentine of Mine

Tuesday, August 25 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Children ages infant to 5 with a parent will enjoy a walk through the Great Swamp to seek out snakes and learn the role that they play in the ecology of the area.

Fee is $10 per pair & $5 per additional child.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

Birding at Buck

Wednesday, August 26 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.

Adult birders will meet a Naturalist at Leonard J. Buck Garden in Far

Hills for a morning of bird watching in these extraordinary

gardens.

Fee is $12 per person.

Poking Around Our Ponds

Sunday, August 30 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

Family and friends of all ages will venture out to a pond habitat to search

for creatures of all shapes and sizes.

Fee is $9 per person.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
