Environmental Education Center Programs

July 18 to 24, 2016

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

Monday, July 18 from 10:30 A.M.to 12:00 Noon

Children ages 4 to 6 will learn which fascinating creatures are really

reptiles and which are not.

Fee is $9 per child

Xtreme Adventure – Hike & Swim

Tuesday, July 19 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

Adventurers age 13 to 16 will travel to a section of the Appalachian Trail

to learn the proper technique for following trail markers before

being rewarded with a cool, refreshing swim at Crater Lake..

Fee is $50 per person.

Raindrops to Rainbows

Wednesday, July 20 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

Children age infant to 5 with a parent will learn how, when, and why

rainbows form, experimenting with the color spectrum and prisms.

Fee is $10 per person and $5 per additional child.
